It is very important to ensure good health continues with the addition of new medications. A great number of doctor visits and even hospital admittances are caused from ill effects brought on by interactions of prescription drugs. Often new drugs do not agree with drugs the patient is already taking. It takes extra time before the adverse effects are diagnosed. For example, patients may not realize they are breaking into hives until a few days have gone by. Then, stopping the drug takes a few days more before the hives disappear again. The patient must endure a great deal of unnecessary stress before they return to their original state of good health.
Problems may arise slowly so that the patient is not aware of the danger that is growing as they continue to take the unharmonious combination of drugs. When a life-threatening situation arises, it becomes an emergency situation causing greatly added unnecessary stress to the patient and their family.
Often one doctor advises certain drugs to the patient. Then a second doctor or specialist may add more pills without making certain what other over the counter drugs the patient is accustomed to taking. Long-term use of such over the counter drugs can be a problem in itself and a good doctor's advice on this topic could easily eliminate the stress caused by such illnesses and hospital visits.
Doctors should always make sure they get the patient to list all pills they take on a daily basis and even pills taken occasionally. Make sure patients are informed of unusual symptoms they should be watching for such as gastro inflammation, skin problems or changes in normal health patterns. This is the information that can ensure good health and totally eliminate unnecessary stress. It can take such little time to avert a medical emergency.
